The ever-hospitable and gracious fathers toured us on our last two nights to show us hidden gems that locals get to enjoy in regards to Rome. While the famous monuments and tourist-laden spots were glorious, there was definitely something encing Rome like the locals do. Tag-on the fact that Father King was celebrating his citizenship,

    What’s new this summer?

“Marhaba!” to all of our beloved family and friends from the Quintans’ Nest. This hot summer has been wonderfully full of God’s providence, including an introductory class to the Arabic language!
This Summer, we focused our time on killing more debt. God has been gracious, allowing Rachel to work as an independent contractor with flexible hours; this flexibility is important for us. Also, Nash has been working more hours while he’s on summer break. He’s also job searching and has been offered a few different opportunities.

In the midst of the summer schedule, we enjoyed a nice trip to Colorado, a family reunion, and our third honeymoon in Park City, Utah. We didn’t think we’d be able to go, but this was Nash’s Parents wedding gift to us on our wedding day.
In May, Nash received his license to preach by our home church, charging him (and his wife) to the teaching ministry to remain faithful to God’s truths. Our seminary encouraged him during this process as they know the weight of importance this has for him and God’s name. He preached a series through the book of Obadiah, a book seldom preached from. Now, preaching through Jonah, Nash explains Christians are privileged “ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us…”.
In July, Rachel was accepted into The Master’s University for their unique Biblical Counseling program. Theology is useless without practical application, and this program does not ignore the Bible at any step of counseling, but depends on the sufficiency of scripture to counsel people through life’s challenges. To join this school has actually been Rachel’s unrealized dream since 2011, until now.
Now, without further ado, an announcement most close to our hearts is the announcement of our new baby Quintans! Rachel is about 20 weeks pregnant and craving! She is beautifully glowing. All her senses, emotions, and loved ones around her are heightened. We thank all of you for your love that has been expressed in spontaneous gifts, prayers, and time. Perhaps one of our most intimate moments with our child was seeing his small body through the ultrasound, then hearing his strong heartbeat pound the drums of our ears while our hearts stopped. We don’t know yet whether we’re going to have a boy or girl, but we just pray for health.
Please keep us in prayer as we seek to be good stewards of God’s resources by fighting debt, as we continue learning and enjoying God’s truths in scripture, as we remain His unceasingly faithful messengers, and as we prepare our family for our precious baby. We love you all, and frequently think of and pray for you.
    Love,
Nash, Rachel, Baby Quintans, and Donatello

    Hello, all!

As we write this, we are enjoying the sweet symptoms of nausea, vomiting, dizziness, shortness of breath, extreme mood swings and the occasional hot flashes. 🙂 Okay, Rachel is.

It has not been easy to keep in mind, but our amazing doctor has reminded us time and again that these symptoms are great tell-tales that we have a strong and healthy pregnancy.

Our expected due date is January 5th, which marks us at 17 weeks. (Yes, that sonogram is from 6 weeks. It’s old.)

Please join us in praying for this little babe! Pray for a continually healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and for mom and dad to get ready!

We are so grateful for ALL our parents who have been with us in every step of the way. Our siblings are also attentive to every single detail (Even sympathy nausea)! We are loving it.
  • God's Absolute Goodness

    January 11th, 2016

Seven days ago, Nash and I experienced the miscarriage of our sweet, 10-week-old child. It feels like lifetimes have passed, and I cannot imagine why the world has passed me by while this tragic event has happened. It feels as though it would be appropriate for the world to be at a standstill and mourn such a victory that sin has triumphed over us.

I’m sure many people feel this way after a loss or a tragedy occurs. I feel as if I could sleep for days on end and I would still wake up tired, discontent, circumstances unchanging. I feel this way, and it is true. However, I have learned that my initial thought of death through sin being a victor is a shallow and fleeting thought.

The truth of the matter is, sin may have triumphed, but only in death. God is still sovereign over all.

If there is one thing that Nash and I have learned this past week, it’s that God’s good character is an absolute. It does not change, and circumstance is not outside His view or His control. Carrying a 10-week old child in my womb was good, but God’s plan of taking away our child was better.

I may not know why right now, but my microscopic view of this event has a telescopic perspective that is a part of God’s sovereign plan for us.
We get to learn from Paul’s account of his suffering that pain and hardship is a great opportunity for Christ’s power to rest on us. “But He said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”.”– 2 Corinthians 12:9

So many people have asked us if we are angry, or assured us that it is an appropriate emotion. However, we have not encountered a hint of doubt or anger towards God’s decision. If anything, we feel absolutely humbled. We have realized that none of what we have, we deserve. His grace and mercy abounds all the more.
We thank God for the opportunity to learn, to grow. And while we have lost so much, we know that there is great gain in the hope that is Christ.
55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:55-58

Family and our Church has been such a stronghold during this time. I am so grateful for their sweet fellowship!
  • October News Updates

    October 18th, 2015

    Greetings, family and friends!

This month has been pack-filled with trials and adventures. The harder its been, the more God’s moved to strengthen our trust.

Rachel started the class for seminary wives. It looks like a rich semester awaits us with learning about encouragement, worship, and supporting Nash through this rigorous journey. Between home-making and discipleship, there has been much joy to go around in the Quintans Nest!

Nash is killing it at seminary! Learning to balance work, school, family and ministry seems to be posing a challenge. However, Rachel has been very supportive and relieved him of a lot of his responsibilities in terms of house chores. Bonus wifey points: She bakes him some of his favorite goodies like lemon bars, chocolate chips and cinnamon buns to help ease study time.

Nash celebrates his 26th birthday tomorrow (the 18th)!

Please pray for us in regards to the following matters:

    1. Please pray that God provides for us financially as we are aiming to graduate debt-free.God’s been graciously providing various means to killing our debt and we hope to continue with the momentum.

    2. Please pray for Rachel’s family– especially her maternal grandmother. It seems that due to some serious health issues, time will be robbing us of her presence.

  • Updates and Changes

    August 26th, 2015

    Greetings, Family and Friends!

A lot of changes are going on over here.

Our trip was so much fun! Greece was eye-opening– just as we had hoped it would be. Italy was breath-taking. And, Denmark, we wouldn’t mind moving to. It was an intimate time of getting to know each other (and a lot of self-discovery as well). Out of all the places we have seen, Patmos, Greece is our most highly recommended.

Pictured above is Elia from Thessaloniki, a Christian brother with an amazing testimony.
Returning to reality was not a bad thing at all. By the 5th week abroad, we were dying to get home to our cozy little apartment and sleep in our own bed and cook in our own kitchen, seeing our family and friends.

Rachel is doing her jewelry as a full-time gig! It has been challenging and exciting– allowing much flexibility in time and more opportunities to do discipleship meetings with other young women.

Nash is starting his first semester at the Master’s Seminary at the end of this month.

Alongside those changes are a prayerful consideration of moving to Sun Valley, CA to be close to the seminary. We would end up having to uproot but the support and community that the seminary offers might be good training, not to mention the commuting from Riverside to LA county.

We have been studying the book of Proverbs each day aside from our personal readings and are reading “The Intimate Marriage” by R.C. Sproul together.

Please let us know if there is anything we can pray for on your behalf. And please include us in your prayers, too:

    1. Wisdom and Discernment in moving.
    2. Better successes in Rachel’s business.
    3. Strength in getting Nash through seminary.
    4. Graduating debt-free!

    In Christ,

    Nash and Rachel Quintans

  • Rome!

    June 12th, 2015
Roma! There’s nothing quite like the visit in Rome. While Thessaloniki’s ruins lace the city, Rome has preserved their structures well by using them as museums, active churches, and hang-out sites.
Most of the modern architecture has been modeled to coordinate their basilicas and structures.
First stop– pizza and gelato! It is of the Bacaling family tradition to sneak away and buy ice cream.

We got our cousin JB to show us the ropes– roman style! Rachel has not seen him in about 9 years and it was such a joy for Nash to meet him.

Our first day was a tad overwhelming as well as tiring, so we got a preview of the city center and drove back to the community that housed us for the next 5 days. <3
